About this movie

Gretta (Keira Knightley) and her long-time boyfriend Dave (Adam Levine) are college sweethearts and songwriting partners who go to New York City when Dave lands a deal with a major record label. But the excitement of Dave’s new-found fame affects the couple in unexpected ways, leaving Gretta unsure of her future—until Dan (Mark Ruffalo), a record label executive with a few problems of his own, stumbles across her performance on an East Village stage. Dan is immediately captivated by Gretta’s raw talent and unique sound, leading to a life-changing collaboration, set to the soundtrack of a summer in New York City. BEGIN AGAIN, from writer-director John Carney (Once), is a soul-stirring story about what happens when lost souls meet and make beautiful music together.

Every now and then there is a "chicks flix" that goes out of the classic hollywood formula to try to bring something new and interesting to the table (e.g. Love Actually) and this is one of them. The music is pretty good, regardless of whether you are a fan of that particular folk music style or not. Without spoiling the plot, this is not a predictable movie at all (which I always appreciate). Definitely worth to watch.

Liked the way the story was told and how it developed throughout the film. The directing was very well done. 4 stars because the ending felt rushed and left a lot untold.

Mark Ruffalo was fantastic! Keira Knightley her predictable self, which is not always a bad thing. Great music.
