My wife and I were just looking for a movie recently and we rented it. We had a rough week and because we love Keira Knightely we rented this movie with no idea what the storyline happened to be. All I can say is this movie was the perfect medicine. It made us smile and feel positive again. The soundtrack gets into your head in the best way possible and will get rid of the doldrums. I liked it so much I purchased it and have watched it a few times since. Hopefully this review will strike a chord in others.

A girl comes to the big city with her musician boyfriend who is on the verge of a major career launch. They share hopes and dreams about the future, until his increasing popularity starts creating an emotional as well as a physical separation until they inevitably follow different paths, one of them most unexpected. Great performances by the talented Keira Knightley and the fascinating Mark Ruffalo plus a wonderful supporting cast. Don't miss it. It will warm your heart.

I enjoyed this movie. I love pretty much anything that centers around music. And I connect with Mark Ruffalo's character as an apiring music producer who has an ear for what's good and what gets thrown out the car window. It does get a bit slow at times, especially in the beginning where they play the beginning from the viewers POV, Ruffalo's POV and then from Knightly's POV but then it gets into the real meat of the movie. I don't think there's really a "First act, Second act..." thing going on. It feels more like a whole story being told and you are just there to enjoy the ride. The real fun part is seeing these two phenomenal actors. And I'm pretty sure they are just friends throughout the whole thing, which is refreshing to see a guy and a girl hanging out and not having romantic undertones throughout the whole thing. We need more of that!
