Perihal filem ini

When Calgarian Robert Cohen moved to L.A. to pursue his dreams of becoming a comedy writer, he quickly realized that Being Canadian meant his new friends and colleagues knew nothing but the usual stereotypes about his beloved homeland. After years of frustration, Robert decided to embark on a genuine and hilarious personal quest, traveling from one end of Canada to the other, to prove his country is more than just maple syrup and Mounties. Imagine “Sherman’s March,” but wearing a toque.

I think this documentary goes a little bit against what it is trying to say. In the description it say that Rob is trying to prove that Canada is not just the stereotypes people think it is. But in reality he is trying hard to confirm those stereotypes even if they are false ... Snow in late june (yeah right ), RCMP officers wearing the red serge on every occasion (not true either). I know it's suppose to be a little bit funny and all but it kind of bugged me. As a canadian, i think it felt like it was telling to american what they already thought was ''being canadian'' instead of what it really is. (sorry if the phrasing seems off i am one of those french canadian)

Lots of things said were true despite what a lot of Canadians would like to think. (Shows how little we really know our country). You can't make the journey from Sydney (which is actually where he started) to Vancouver in 9 days while stopping to talk to people. Takes almost 2 days just to travel across Ontario. Leaving out half the country for the more popular bits is also not okay. We share the same values while being so diverse in how we live. Also like all of the north was ignored.

Based on the trailers I was really looking forward to it but in the end it wasn't really worth the $7.99 I paid to watch it. And since when is it snowing and frozen in Ottawa at the end of June? And that interview with BNL must have been done YEARS ago since Steven Page hasn't been with the group since 2009. A few moments made me smile but overall I was pretty disappointed.
