About this movie

Best of Enemies is a behind-the-scenes account of the explosive televised debates between the liberal Gore Vidal and the conservative William F. Buckley Jr., during the 1968 Democratic and Republican national conventions. Live and unscripted, they kept viewers riveted with their rancorous disagreements about politics, God, and sex. Ratings for ABC News sky-rocketed; and a new era in public discourse was born. 2015 Sandbar LLC, Dogwoof.

It is a rare treat to relive the truly unique sparring between Vidal & Buckley - the temmer of which one fears we will never experience again. This wonderfully evocative experience gives a deep engagement with the unique relationship using rate and previously unreleased footage to establish context and stage the cat fight that it was. Brilliant!
