Grace and Carlo (Julia Stiles and Taye Diggs) are a newly married New York couple who decide to visit their old friends Sharyl and Joel (Melissa George and David Harbour) in their huge Midwestern home. Despite their wealth, the hosts are in a bitterly destructive marriage and tensions are fraught. A few years later the couples reunite in New York, only to find out the tables have turned, and accusations and recriminations make for an explosive evening.
