Agneta Elers-Jarleman documents her lover and former film-making partner Jean Montgrenier's seemingly irreversible medical condition years after the car accident that left him mostly paralyzed and completely unable to communicate. Though their friends have long given up on Montgrenier, Elers-Jarlemen stays by his side, hoping for signs of improvement, even as it becomes increasingly clear that she must redefine her vision of the life they once imagined together.
