Après sa journée de travail, Kato, gérant d'un café rentre chez lui. Alors qu'il veut se détendre, son écran d'ordinateur s'allume soudainement et il aperçoit son image qui l'interpelle deux minutes depuis le futur. Piégé dans une boucle temporelle, il fait appel à ses amis pour l'aider à percer ce mystérieux phénomène à l'origine de l'effet Droste.
