Raw, emotional and brutally honest, Billie is filled with never-before-heard interviews from musical greats Count Basie, Charles Mingus, Sylvia Syms and Tony Bennett.

This movie was great. it was very informative and poignant. I came away with a clearer understanding of Billie's tormented life. it seemed she was surrounded by many and yet so alone. her lack of a father figure seemed to affect her choice of men or lack of men in her life. she seemed to be a tortured soul who escaped torment through singing in, that one-of-a-kind voice so raspy tuned and eclectic. I wish there was more about her.

Fascinating video of a wonderful artist. She was one of the first people to publicly express the pain and anguish being felt by so many folks during a tough time of racial divide and bigotry.
