Yeah, this sorta left me cold. The illusion of the continuous single shot through the whole film was admittedly impressive on a technical level, but I ultimately found it distracting. I kept checking out of the drama every 10 minutes to try and spot the hidden cuts between takes. Maybe because as a comedy I just didn't find it that funny. At all. And probably because the tone of the whole thing came off a little too self-important to me. I dunno... great performances all around, though.

I watched this on a flight back from Europe after hearing it won best picture. Iñárritu, if you're reading this give me back the 45m of my life I wasted watching this movie because I couldn't watch any more. The acting was great and the movie its This won best movie just because it's a movie about actors. From what I saw there is nothing I could relate to and it never game a reason WHY I SHOULD CARE. Technically well made and acting was great but the plot is terrible and overall an absolute waste of time.

I went into this movie expecting a bigger comedic aspect, but was pleasantly entertained by the drama with funny parts here and there. It's all well done in the style of a stage play, even behind the stage. You'll end up wondering what's real and what isn't, and will be absorbed in the story. I hardly noticed how well it was shot until halfway through. Very well done cinematography. I think the cohesion could have been improved, you don't really care about all the characters until they reach their arcs.
