Meh.... Shallow at best. Mindless action where investment in the characters was impossible because of poor acting and individual character development. The story timeline was deliberately skewed with the use of flashbacks which made it too frenetic to follow or at least care past the 20 minute mark. Cool SFX but not enough to make it worth the $6.99 in my opinion.

As Superhero origin story it works well. The hero is relatable you understand what drives him and why he does what he does and Guy Pearce's bad guy is evil without crossing over into Bwah Ha Ha supervillainy and the rest of the cast are a great balance to the Vin's and Guy's characters. The Special effects are solid and the action scenes are well filmed and choreographed. a solid superhero action movie.

This movie gets a B minus from me. I was hoping for something of the quality of Riddick or Pitch Black, but this movie falls WAY short of those films. I got the impression that it was just thrown together using a big name actor to simply make some money. I thought it was a busy mess.
