Über diesen Film

Poignant, romantic, and mesmerizing, writer/director Woody Allen's latest masterpiece centers around Jasmine (Cate Blanchett), a former New York socialite teetering on an emotional tightrope, balancing between her troubled east coast past and a fresh start in San Francisco. Having moved into her sister's humble apartment, Jasmine ricochets between the tumultuous acceptance of her new limitations, and the dreams of reclaiming her past life's glamour. Join a powerful cast including Alec Baldwin, Sally Hawkins, Louis C.K., and Peter Saarsgard for an intimate portrayal of the battle between fantasy and reality which wages within us all.

I thought this movie would be more interesting then it was. It did show how one can suffer a collapse in the face of white collar crime after they believe '"they have everything". The ending was horrible..no closure but another nervous breakdown. Maybe that is what the movies purpose was to show that sometimes things are just too much to handle and that the mind is fragile. Seriously though super boring. Very disappointed.

Maybe it's just a Woody Allen thing and I just don't get it, but the writing and acting is for the most part uncomfortable and awkward. Quite honestly, people just don't talk this way. Other writers today are eclipsing him by far, but his old fans just keep coming out in droves. Blanchett's job in this movie is oscar worthy, the rest of it was a challenge.

Well went to this on a date night and it was definitely interesting but to call it a comedy is a stretch. Mental illness and the pathetic life of the very wealthy and the working poor. Add in financial scams, dysfunctional family rivalry, artistic scenery, failed marriages and you get taste for the dark side of the privileged American life drowned in booze with a side Xanax. Oh, and the creeps of that whole "stranger on the plane" theory. Always take the aisle seat.
