Über diesen Film

Directed by Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Liz Garbus, this feature-length documentary explores the complex life of Bobby Fischer, the troubled genius whose charisma and talent spurred a worldwide fascination with chess, the "Game of Kings." Fischer's evolution from isolated child to chess prodigy, global superstar, angry recluse and, finally, fugitive from the law, is a spellbinding story of the making and unmaking of an American icon. Rare archival footage and insightful interviews with those closest to him expand this captivating story of a mastermind's tumultuous rise and fall.

petrifying movie and/or documentary I've ever seen, and I've seen a zillion in this long life. It is perfection: the clarity, the gathered clips, the ease of narration through the perfect amount of talking heads. The direction is impeccable including the director's seemingly complete "disappearance." It's as if, as in some dream, one is actually there through every nuance of Fischer's tragic life. I love the beauty of perfection, and I'm shocked by its effect on me. Brava, Liz Garbus!

Fischer is one of the most enigmatic people to try to capture. This film shines a rare light on the genius.
