BORG VS. MCENROE tells the story of the epic rivalry between brash American tennis legend John McEnroe (LaBeouf), and his greatest adversary, the reigning world champion Björn Borg, which came to a head during the 1980 Wimbledon Championships.

Stirring drama about the two best tennis players in the world during the late 70's/early 80's whose public personas and on-court demeanor couldn't have been more opposite. However, as the story unfolds both in the contemporary and through flashbacks, we see that they shared similar emotional and psychological traits but circumstances dictated different paths. By the time the climactic match has ended, the two men recognize this which leads to a newfound respect for one another, and ultimately a friendship that extends well beyond the competitive bindings of the sport.
