Based on Garrard Conley's memoir, "Boy Erased" tells the story of Jared (Lucas Hedges, "Manchester by the Sea"), the son of a Baptist minister in a conservative American town, who is outed as gay to his family at the age of 19. Jared's parents (Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe) force him to attend a gay conversion therapy program or else he will be forever shunned by his family and friends and exiled from his church. The coming-of-age drama is written and directed by Joel Edgerton.
