Über diesen Film

Filmed over 12 years with the same cast, Richard Linklater's BOYHOOD is a groundbreaking story of growing up as seen through the eyes of a child named Mason (a breakthrough performance by Ellar Coltrane), who literally grows up on screen before our eyes. Starring Ethan Hawke and Patricia Arquette as Mason's parents and newcomer Lorelei Linklater as his sister Samantha, BOYHOOD charts the rocky terrain of childhood like no other film has before. Snapshots of adolescence from road trips and family dinners to birthdays and graduations and all the moments in between become transcendent, set to a soundtrack spanning the years from Coldplay's Yellow to Arcade Fire's Deep Blue. BOYHOOD is both a nostalgic time capsule of the recent past and an ode to growing up and parenting. (Original Title - Boyhood) CBFC Rating A. Certificate Number DFL/3/73/2014-MUM

Rated four stars because it is different. No matter how much the representation of characters fluctuates through the film (which is understandable) and even tho it is a one time watch (it has almost zero rewatchability) it is a movie that people need to experience for the scale of things. Great performance by hawke, though mason(the lead char) turns out to be an empty shell for viewers to experience their own life through-Which makes the experience underwhelming. Boyhood is special, but only for the scale.

It's good for people who have lived the American life of disjointed family, American dream etc nothing home to write about. However the reason to give 4 stars is for the vision and patience the director had to shoot for 12 years. The child is not a great actor but they would not know that as he was chosen at 3

You feel the nostalgia. Tremendous patience & hard work shown by film crew. To see actors growing up in real time helps build a connection with them.
