This film may not be a great cinematic story, or have stars who wow audiences, but what this film does have is the fact that it draws the audience into itself. As a boy myself, it was absolutely stunning to see the growth of Mason, from a young, insecure kid(like when he had that haircut), to a confident young man, who could not wait to become independent, in the end. Richard Linklater truly made a classic.

Beautiful is the word I would use for the movie. Through the 2.5 hours of the movie one feels as if they too are growing up with Mason. One can't help but remember one's own experiences of scolding from a parent, road trips, first crush, new school, trying to fit in, wondering what life is all about etc. Superb acting complimented by great production the movie bring out even the smallest of life's little details in a great way. No spectacular stunts, over the top explosions yet each scene in the movie seems just as powerful because one is able to RELATE to what is being shown. And the soundtracks chosen just add to the magic. At the end one is left happy [and not many movies can claim that] that s/he got a chance to watch the movie and have a little trip down memory lane and back again.

Boyhood is proof that a strange magic can still bloom amidst the tragedy that buffets human life. It's a once in a lifetime experience. Director Linklater produces a masterpiece that makes you feel like you are living this small family's life with them. Boyhood boast of amazing performances from a stellar cast. Arquette really shines here, showing the truthfulness, honesty, joy, vulnerability of motherhood. Fresh and inspiring. Must watch.
