Brampton’s Own brought me right back to my hometown. When Dustin (Alex Russell) returns to home after he was having a difficult time making it out of the minor leagues, he was reunited with his highschool sweetheart Rachel (Rose McIver). Russell and McIver were so cute together, I found myself rooting for their relationship to work out throughout the film. I also loved how well written this film was. I’ve often seen similar movie go off track, but this movie seemed to know exactly where it was going which made it super easy to relax and get lost in the movie for an hour. I would recommend this to anyone looking for for a light and fun movie to watch.

To take time to enjoy the journey and not rushing the future is the main lesson that is to be learned from the new romantic sports film Brampton’s Own. AAA baseball player Dustin has been hoping to be called up to the majors but is turned down for the 12th year at the end of the season. Dustin decides to give up his baseball dream and return to his hometown of Brampton, where he was the local baseball star and stud that dated the cute girl in town. He struggles with adjusting to a life without baseball while deciding if he should try to get his high school crush back. This is overall an entertaining and fun movie, featuring many funny moments that had me laughing throughout. The acting is charming, specifically Alex Russel who plays Dustin. A nice blend of romance and humor, this sports film is an exciting feel good movie.

Brampton’s Own is the story of drive and finding things out about yourself. When Dustin returns home after another season without getting into the big leagues he feels as though he will never make it in baseball. Returning home and seeing all the people he left behind and the woman he once loved. With the world leaving him behind he is given the choice between going after the sport that he loves or go after the woman he once loved before she is gone forever. I really enjoyed the emotion between the main couple and the side characters. It made the world seem more real. There was one scene where the main two actors were talking in the man’s bedroom when the mom walked in and was just a normal awkward mom. Another scene later on, the girl and the mom were reminiscing and telling old stories. It made the small town setting more real. If you are a fan of romance then this is the movie for you.
