This movie makes up for all that is lacking in "Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason" and almost meets the perfection of the first installment, "Bridget Jones's Diary." Sharon Maguire does an excellent job of bringing the joyful awkwardness of Bridget's life to the audience. Renée Zellweger's performance as Bridget is, once again, on point. While the cast are older, they lose none of their appeal from their first go round with Bridget. The selection of music that highlights the situations throughout the scenes of the movie is superb, from the first notes of of the opening credits to the end.

It was better than I thought it would be. Not just fan service. It picks up in the middle. Colin Firth gives a poignant and stoically emotional performance. Renee's Bridget shows growth and maturity in places Bridget did not possess 10 years ago. I'm sad they couldn't handle a notably aged Hugh Grant enough to bring him back.
