Due to the Cinemascope film format, beautiful set pieces, and large choreographed song/dance numbers this film presents itself as a epic yet simple love story. But I think it's side stories and convoluted magical premise/rules hold it back from being greater than it should have been. It's not that they're bad, but they just take time away from building the main story and don't add to or have any real payoff in the end. Other than that this is a grand love story that most will enjoy.

Gene Kelly, Cyd Charisse and Van Johnson. That Alone should sell you but... Add on the Scottish Country side. A wedding which the whole town is celebrating. A jealous jilted suitor threatening to destroy them all. A new budding Love interest been Gene and Cyd . All wrapped up in quaint little town which only exists one day every 100 years before vanishing back into the mist. A TRULY EPIC STORY and my personal favorite. You will love it EVEN if you aren't into Musicals. 💯💯💯🏆🏆🏆❤️❤️❤️
