In lack of better words the movie had the skeleton but no sustainable meat to get it going. It had many elements that fell short or left a plethora of questions unanswered. Obscure details were abandoned half way through and untouched. Actors, idea, and acting was there and greatly supported, but it left a lot of wanting in the end. Brightburn made me feel like they were trying to make up for lack of budget and story with oddly placed gore and neglected details.

The trailer gave me high hopes for this movie. Unfortunately the idea of a evil superman was wasted on a low budget, poorly put together story. Too much time was spent trying to give the movie a dark atmosphere, that it felt like they edited out any strong story development. Not sure if that was done during the writing phase or in the editing room. The actors all did a good job, the special effects were fairly seamless, but it just kind of falls flat. It was not the worst movie I've ever seen, and if you go in not expecting too much, it might be fun to watch with a group of friends who like watching B grade horror movies.

Wish I had the option to give 0 stars. I did not enjoy this at all! The innocent killing was just wrong. People get killed because the kid is angry because of things he did!? I like James Gunn and Guardians of the Galaxy, but I hated this movie and don't need to see it again :(
