In this charming love story based on the best-selling novel, Saoirse Ronan stars as Eilis Lacey, a young Irish immigrant navigating her way through 1950s Brooklyn. The initial shackles of homesickness quickly diminish as a fresh romance sweeps Eilis into the intoxicating charm of love. But soon, her new vivacity is disrupted by her past and Eilis must choose between two countries and two men.
This little film has solid performances from the main players to the bit actors, and it was easy to get drawn in to the story. Other than a completely telegraphed and awkwardly predictable final third, this movie was charming and heartwarming.
Nice photography but nothing terribly interesting story wise. Just another example of how people in New York think the world revolves around them and any miniscule part or history of their city.
Charming (Very)!! Liked it better on 2nd viewing, just a week after the first time. This woman is so uniquely beautiful, and a very good actress. Romantic, but for me, not a typical chick flick.
