The National Collegiate Athletic Association was founded more than a century ago on the worthy principals of protecting and benefiting student athletes. Unfortunately, today’s NCAA falls woefully short of meeting those goals. "The Business of Amateurs" sets out to make the case that the NCAA places the profits of college sports programs nationwide ahead of the best interests of athletes and their families. Documentary filmmaker and former USC lineman Bob DeMars pulls no punches as the film tackles many beats, from the exploitation of the athlete to the prevalence of brain trauma inherent to college football, and systematically points out the hypocrisy and injustices that, in some cases, are life or death issues.

This film shows the true world of collegiate sport and what our athletes battle on and off the field. I recommend this movie to any coach, parent, administration, athlete, counselor, and sports fan. It is a must watch film

the misery and pain these athletes endure. Most people don't understand what happens during the week of practice leading up to Saturdays while watching the games. D-1 college ball is an 11 month a year job. Winter conditioning, Spring Ball, Summer and Fall. These players exp great pain both physically and emotionally. They are nothing but a replaceable 2-300 pound piece of meat for both their school and the NCAA. Is the scholarship worth the price? No. Looking back I should've given up the chance to play.

Outstanding! An excellent job of examining the systematic ways the NCAA and big time college sports deceives and cheats its student athletes! A must watch for sports fans and non sports fans alike!
