About this movie

Melissa McCarthy is masterful in the captivating account — based on a true story — of Lee Israel, a best-selling celebrity biographer in the 1970s and ’80s. When Lee (McCarthy) comes to the realisation that she’s no longer en vogue, she spins her art form into a perilous web of lies, deceit and outright crime to get back on top.

Absolutely superb. The acting, the serious undertones that makes your laughter stick in your throat, mixed with vulnerable humanity where you get to laugh out loud. Raw and honest. Loved it.

After watching the trailer I was expecting a comedy but a comedy this is not. Actually some of it is down right depressing. Still it does have some funny bits and is worth a look.
