Depuis toujours les grands ensemble de Cabrini Green à Chicago ont été terrorisés par une histoire terrifiante de tueur surnaturel. Dix ans après que les tours ont été démolies, l'artiste Anthony McCoy (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) et sa copine directrice de gallerie rianna Cartwright (Teyonah Parris) emménagent dans un magnifique appartement dans Cabrini Green maintenant gentrifié et peuplé de jeunes cadres dynamiques. Alors que la carrière d'Anthony est au point mort, il rencontre par hasard un vieil habitant de Cabrini Green (Colman Domingo) qui lui révèle la nature horrible de l'histoire vraie de Candyman. Voulant maintenir son status dans le monde de l'art de Chicago, Anthony se sert de ces détails macabres dans son studio comme inspiration pour sa peinture, ouvrant ainsi involontairement une porte vers un passé complexe qui menace sa santé mentale et déclenche une vague de violence qui le pousse vers son destin.

Notes et avis

Despite a new twist on the old tale along with interesting and suggestive kill set pieces instead of flat-out gore coupled with fine performances, Candyman (2021) pales in comparison to the 1992 original (although Tony Todd makes a very cool appearance in the film). Extremely preachy on the social commentary of the "Black Lives Matter" movement that is more of a distraction and hinderence. This is the film's downfall. The proverbial hook it guts itself with as well as the audience.

l loved the original movie better then this one the end l found was the only good part. l felt it dragged on l would of liked to see Helen. good bloody parts in this movie but really the original was better

Absolute garbage, Rotten tomatoes have no clue giving 88% ? Bad acting, no story, waste of money Original scared me, remake was boring and annoying
