Dacché i residenti ricordino, le case popolari del quartiere Cabrini Green di Chicago sono state terrorizzate da una storia su un assassino soprannaturale. Un decennio dopo che le torri di Cabrini sono state abbattute, il visual artist Anthony McCoy (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) e la sua ragazza, la direttrice di galleria Brianna Cartwright (Teyonah Parris), si trasferiscono in un loft di lusso a Cabrini, ora imborghesito e abitato da millennial in ascesa. Con la carriera pittorica di Anthony sull'orlo del baratro, un incontro casuale con un vecchio abitante di Cabrini Green (Colman Domingo) espone Anthony alla natura tragica della vera storia di Candyman. Ansioso di mantenere il suo status nel mondo dell'arte, Anthony inizia ad esplorare questa macabra storia come nuovo materiale per i dipinti, aprendo inconsapevolmente una porta su un passato complesso che svela la sua stessa sanità mentale e scatena una terrificante ondata di violenza che lo mette in rotta di collisione con il destino.

Valutazioni e recensioni

Despite a new twist on the old tale along with interesting and suggestive kill set pieces instead of flat-out gore coupled with fine performances, Candyman (2021) pales in comparison to the 1992 original (although Tony Todd makes a very cool appearance in the film). Extremely preachy on the social commentary of the "Black Lives Matter" movement that is more of a distraction and hinderence. This is the film's downfall. The proverbial hook it guts itself with as well as the audience.

As a true horror buff I am a fan of every classic you could imagine, this took me back to the original but also had a modern fresh feel. Good graphics and story. Worth the watch.

l loved the original movie better then this one the end l found was the only good part. l felt it dragged on l would of liked to see Helen. good bloody parts in this movie but really the original was better
