About this movie

Starring Cate Blanchett & Rooney Mara and set against the glamorous backdrop of 1950s New York, Carol is an achingly beautiful depiction of love against the odds. From the author of The Talented Mr. Ripley and acclaimed director Todd Haynes (Far from Heaven, I'm Not There, Mildred Pierce) comes a powerful drama about a married woman who risks everything when she embarks on a romance with a younger department store worker.

Liked it! Not my usual fare (I'm an action gal, really) and a bit of a slow burner but very compelling with stunning performances and score; sumptuous and dreamlike and oh, the feels! 😿 Hopefully it's already helped those who need to realize that love is love and to not persecute LGBT+ ppl and helped others have the courage to be who they really are. Also, just loving the continuing rise of strong, well written female characters in cinema these days. This isn't something I'll buy and watch over and over but certainly i might come back to it; definitely reading the book at some point. Recommended!

Struggle to understand the acclaim this film has received. Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara deliver solid performances, but nothing really gripped me emotionally or kept me interested in what happened between the characters. Loved the cinematography, though.

I find it a bit sickening to watch, but hey I don't think this was made for me & more towards the pink £!
