About this movie

It's a fur-to-riches story as Danny -- a spunky, wise-crackin' cat with moves like Fred Astaire -- heads to Hollywood on a quest to overcome the "species barrier" and become a dancing movie legend. With choreography by late Academy Award-winner Gene Kelly ("Singin' in the Rain," the "That's Entertainment!" trilogy), this full-length animated musical comedy features the voices of Scott Bakula (TV's "Enterprise," "Major League: Back to the Minors"), Jasmine Guy (Alex Haley's "Queen," "Harlem Nights"), Grammy-winner Natalie Cole, Oscar-winner George Kennedy ("Dennis the Menace Strikes Again," "Small Soldiers"), Hal Holbrook ("The Majestic," the "North and South" miniseries), John Rhys-Davies ("The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, the "Indiana Jones" trilogy), and Emmy-winner Don Knotts ("Pleasantville," "Big Bully"). Featuring original songs by Grammy- and Oscar-winner Randy Newman ("Monsters, Inc.," the "Toy Story" movies,).

I vaguely recall seeing this movie on Cartoon Network once or twice in the 2000s. Haven't watched it again until very recently, but it holds up pretty well, and I would very much consider it a hidden gem of the 90s. The animation is snappy and expressive, the characters and dialogue are full of emotion and wit, and the soundtrack and choreography give it an old-school Hollywood feel that fits the story perfectly. If you love classic slapstick cartoons, you should totally check it out.

This movie is the essence of the American Dream. Danny the cat is my spirit animal, and he made me believe that the streets were literally made of gold in HOLLYWOOD!!! Danny endured, oppression, hatred, and bigotry, and still managed to achieve his dream. All kids need Danny the cat. All adults need Danny the cat. FIVE STARS!!! Watch this movie and take notes in how to live life my fellow humans.

A bit predictable, but it's still fun 2 watch. I'm impressed with Mark Dindal's (The Emperor's New Groove) work for his directorial debut. As Darla Dimple says 'we'll see his splashy debut,' & we did & it was good. Despite that it was a box office bomb due to Warner Brothers' crappy marketing (just 2 books, some toys at Subway). Budget: $32 million. Box office (worldwide): $3 million. I thinking to start a petition 2 Warner Brothers 2 re-release the movie in theaters worldwide. I would like some help.
