Sobre aquesta pel·lícula

In the near future, crime is patrolled by an oppressive mechanized police force. But now, the people are fighting back. When one police droid, Chappie, is stolen and given new programming, he becomes the first robot with the ability to think and feel for himself.  As powerful, destructive forces start to see Chappie as a danger to mankind and order, they will stop at nothing to maintain the status quo and ensure that Chappie is the last of his kind.

Terrible. There are no heroes. Every core character is morally and ethically bankrupt. You can't root for anyone and instead just wind up hating everyone in the movie - with the exception of Chappie. You spend so long watching the core cast be cruel and inconsequential that by the time the movie tries to throw in funny Short Circuit relief it's too late. You spend 45-60 minutes with these awful people - makes it hard to manage more than a chuckle. So not very good at diffusion before the final climax.

This movie was a mess of forced empathy and unlikeable characters, in an environment unsure whether it wants to be a gangster film or a comedy, failing on both counts. Heavy product placement, with much of the story simply an extended music video. Good actors (Hugh Jackman, Sigourney Weaver) were unceremoniously shoved into laughably clichéd roles, and left there with little to no development for the entire movie. Visual effects were solid, but wasted in a movie neither fun nor thought-provoking.

This film's plot is full of holes. None of this film would have happened if the people, companies, etc. behaved like they would in real life. You invented true A.I.? Test it in controlled conditions, write a paper. And there's no way the Guard Key would be allowed off-premises without an escort or approval from higher up. Not to mention that when an employee says they've cracked the Singularity, you don't tell them to stuff it because you're a mil-tech company. You diversify and make more money than anybody ever has. </rant>
