This movie scores on all levels - a great escape flick, a flick to make you think about how people are treated differently for "not following the norm" in a town and it's a great feel-good message and movie. The cast is PHENOMENAL. Lasse Halstrom is an Excellent Director and the Producers are excellent as well. Well-written, great story lines, interesting characters - great score, too!!! This movie has it all but gratuitous sex and violence. The only violent scene is relevant to the character's story line and doesn't last very long at all.

I loved it, told in the voice of the daughter and showing the ups and downs or being an outsider in a time and place where something different is shucked aside or ignored, I love how we see the emotional struggle and success of the two ladies. I will also admit i have looked into some of the chocolates they gave to the other characters, holy heck it was good!
Everyone in town is quite plain, depressed and drab until a feisty young chocolate maker and her daughter move in and stir up a whirlwind of fun, trouble, and imaginative ways to make everyone happy. A gripping drama and a fantastically funny film. A must see for all fans of a terrific stoty.
