The supernatural/sci-fi premise lends itself more than most the very cinematic portrayal of these teenagers lives. What most "powers" movies forget is the awesome thrill of discovery. This movie revels in the teenagers newfound abilities just long enough to satisfy your sense of wonder before exploring the awful consequences of great power... without great responsibility. Not great, but very good and memorable... adding to the film canon what has only existed in the comics up until now. Check it out.

Pretty entertaining movie. Fun to watch and easy to follow so it makes a good background movie. The plot is essentially a tragic hero origin story. Some parts are clearly homage to Akira, but end up less impressive. Sadly the young actors show their inexperience and fail to give engaging performances in every scene, but do manage a few powerful ones. The characters development can feel campy or forced at times, but this isn't Oscar bait so I was more interested in the ideas behind the story than realism.

This movie is too intelligent for the masses. The shaky camera refers to the film being shot in first person through the eyes of a kid abused by his alcoholic father. The loner becomes special when he and his cousin and cousins friend encounter an alien rock that gives them telekinestic powers. The story investigates forgiveness, resentment and regret. The end is a mind blowing jump to third person limited via other cameras following the story. It is intellectual sci-fi with many morals.
