"After moving to Paris, author Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette agrees to ghostwrite a semi-autobiographical novel for her husband. While being based on a true story i found the story lacked spark and plot twist. In the end of the day, i found the movie very boring.

Overall out of 5 stars would say 3.5. The two main characters were good, well complemented each other for their roles. It was easy to watch and follow with no real shockers as it all unfolded, everything was a matter of time to unfold, to end. I cant really say it was a bad film nor really, really good. It was enjoyable and monies worth, with a life well told without delving into the lesbian side of Colette for extra sensationalism.

An excellent performance from Keira Knightley, and some lovely explorations of sexual mores of Paris in the period. It might have been helpful had they delved more into sexual imbalances and the powers men held over women to give a better exploration of why Colette didn't leave her husband sooner - which she definitely, definitely should have. What a poor excuse for a man. I enjoyed the summary at the end of everyone's future going forward: good to know Colette got what she deserved.
