After marrying a successful Parisian writer known commonly as "Willy" (Dominic West), Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette (Keira Knightley) is transplanted from her childhood home in rural France to the intellectual and artistic splendor of Paris. Soon after, Willy convinces Colette to ghostwrite for him. She pens a semiautobiographical novel about a witty and brazen country girl named Claudine, sparking a bestseller and a cultural sensation. After its success, Colette and Willy become the talk of Paris and their adventures inspire additional Claudine novels. The direction of the move focused too much on her sexual desires and not on her well deserved recognition for the accomplishments she achieved at a time when women were not accepted in certain careers. The end of the movie gives flashbacks of her life as she wanted to live it. This is where the movie should had started. In reality, her sexual orientation had nothing to do with her greatness as a writer/actor/woman, it was her strength and courage that inspired us.

I didn't like this movie. It was very slow. Very weak plot.

She agreed to be a ghost writer? So why go and try to fight for it? She lost herself. She was already famous with her husband.
