When professor Steve Macinter (Steve Allen), known around campus as Mac, starts asking his undergraduates about their sex lives, the administration raises some eyebrows. Macinter, who works in the sociology department, thinks he's merely doing research, but the powers that be don't want faculty talking to students about sex. When reporter Betty Ducayne (Jayne Meadows) reveals details about Macinter's frank questions, the teacher winds up facing a legal battle.
