Um þessa kvikmynd

Based on the DC Comics/Vertigo Hellblazer graphic novels and written by Kevin Brodbin and Frank Cappello, Constantine tells the story of John Constantine (KEANU REEVES), a man who has literally been to hell and back. When he teams up with skeptical policewoman Angela Dodson (RACHEL WEISZ) to solve the mysterious suicide of her twin sister, their investigation takes them through the world of demons and angels that exists just beneath the landscape of contemporary Los Angeles. Caught in a catastrophic series of otherworldly events, the two become inextricably involved and seek to find their own peace at whatever cost. MPAA Rating: R (c) 2005 Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. Though it was given a rough treatment from the film critics when it came out, I've always been rather fond of Constantine. The plot is decent, the cast is good*, the cinematography is moody and apt. Though times have moved on, the visual effects still hold their own - be it the fight scene midst the traffic with the insect demon, or even just the majesty of Gabriel's wings. I suppose the main criticism is that Keanu Reeves wasn't the best choice for Constantine but the other actors and the plot cover him.

I saw Constantine when it came out and really liked it, despite the critics not agreeing. I think it still holds up pretty well after all these years. It's entertaining, thrilling and has a really good cast, especially the brilliantly cast Tilda Swinton as Gabriel. Keanu is alright as Constantine (although he's being himself as usual - I like the Matt Ryan version more).

Where did 1 star come from... It's not postman pat or 90210. I think Keanu Reeves was a solid choice for the film. OK it's not the same as the book but hey I think it's better that way as a one off. Good soundtrack
