About this movie

This BAFTA Cymru winning Comedy, best described as 'Clerks' meets 'A Dog Day Afternoon’ follows best friends Ajay (Ray Panthaki - BAFTA Breakthrough Brit, Kidulthood, Ali G) and Shaan (Adeel Akhtar - Four Lions, PAN), as they attempt to rob a petrol station Convenience store to clear a debt owed to some Russian gangsters from a strip club. However, things don’t go exactly to plan when they discover that the petrol station’s safe is on a time lock and won’t open until 6am. Desperate and with their lives on the line, the hapless pair decide to tie up the feisty supervisor Levi (Vicky McClure - BAFTA Winner, This is England), disguise themselves as workers and wait it out… with outrageous consequences.

One night. Two men. Three hostages. No clue.

Instant indie sleeper hit may not yet be a commonly held phrase, but it quite implicitly describes Convenience. The chemistry between its two leads drives what delightfully proves to be a far deeper story than first imagined. The plot seems pretty straightforward, holding up an all-night petrol station, but it's done in the most hilarious, self-effacing manner, to the point where half our dynamic duo actually sees content working in a petrol station for real. The film has cult classic written all over it.

Only saw the Mark Kermode review the other day so thought I'd give this a watch. Great acting and more belly laughs toward the end of the film. People who work convenience will relate to a couple of the scenes no doubt. Only wished this was on at my local picture house the other day as I would have enjoyed this more than 'The Martian' which was a waste of two hours I'll never get back. Anyway, I digress...catch this if you can.

Trailer made the film look good. Until I watched and found out they was the only funny parts. Not worth the rental fee
