”Crazy Rich Asians” kertoo paljasjalkaisesta newyorkilaisesta Rachel Chusta (Constance Wu), kun tämä matkaa pitkäaikaisen poikaystävänsä Nick Youngin (Henry Golding) kanssa tämän parhaan ystävän häihin Singaporeen. Rachel on innoissaan ensimmäisestä Aasian-vierailustaan, mutta hermostunut Nickin perheen tapaamisesta ja yllättyy kuullessaan, että Nick ei ole kertonut muutamasta tärkeästä elämäänsä liittyvästä asiasta. I notice tons of 5 star and 1 star reviews so I'm going to be different and say 2 and a half stars. The script was for the most part what I'd call "trite", plus overall it wasn't that funny. However there was good acting by Michelle Yeoh, Constance and Awkwafina. Too much overacting by the girl who played Araminta. The only time I laughed out loud was when Awkwafina told Rachel that Eleanor would probably offer $omething in exchange for willfully disappearing.

I enjoyed the whole movie but my favorite person is 'Ashley even with all the money the family had she wasn't a snob like everyone else. The wedding entrance for the bride gets to me every single time I watch it.

Bad writing, bad acting, and the only POC were ALL SERVANTS. It's the quintessential "American in a foreign land" film, but with a modern twist. Still, it's deeply patriarchal and racist.
