Par šo filmu

Crazy Rich Asians follows native New Yorker Rachel Chu (Constance Wu) as she accompanies her longtime boyfriend, Nick Young (Henry Golding), to his best friend’s wedding in Singapore. Excited about visiting Asia for the first time but nervous about meeting Nick’s family, Rachel is unprepared to learn that Nick has neglected to mention a few key details about his life. It turns out that he is not only the scion of one of the country’s wealthiest families but also one of its most sought-after bachelors. Being on Nick’s arm puts a target on Rachel’s back, with jealous socialites and, worse, Nick’s own disapproving mother (Michelle Yeoh) taking aim. And it soon becomes clear that while money can’t buy love, it can definitely complicate things.

I am sort of a fan of Jimmy O'yang's stand-up comedy shows and heard this movie when he went on the Daily Show talking about it. Now I've watched the movie and all I'm wondering is how in the world does this terrible, cliched, hackneyed movie get 91% on rottentomatoes? This movie is pathetic, and even makes me feel embarrassed of being Asian. Well that last part was just kidding.

I really wanted to love this movie. Don't get me wrong, it was a cute movie, but it was like "Introduction to K-Dramas for people who've never heard of them before". It barely skimmed the top and the plot left much to be desired. Seriously, just go to VIKI and watch some K-Dramas instead, you'll have a much better time.

Somewhat generic rom com that doesn't have much comedy and the two main characters are the least interesting part of the movie. Would have rather watched the Ken Jeong family and their escapades as a comedy OR a serious drama about the pretty sister who's marriage is on the rocks. Either would have been more than good, but as sub plots in a boringish love story, Crazy Rich Asians was just ok.
