"Crazy Rich Asians” follows native New Yorker Rachel Chu (Constance Wu) as she accompanies her longtime boyfriend, Nick Young (Henry Golding), to his best friend’s wedding in Singapore. Excited about visiting Asia for the first time but nervous about meeting Nick’s family, Rachel is unprepared to learn that Nick has neglected to mention a few key details about his life. It turns out that he is not only the scion of one of the country’s wealthiest families but also one of its most sought-after bachelors. Being on Nick’s arm puts a target on Rachel’s back, with jealous socialites and, worse, Nick’s own disapproving mother (Michelle Yeoh) taking aim. And it soon becomes clear that while money can’t buy love, it can definitely complicate things.

The comedians are funny. The rest is a bit of a tortured tale as old as time (traditional family pooh-poohs the American chase your dream girlfriend) and a bunch of pretty shallowly defined characters. Oh and the typical positive ending. One star though for the premise and the range of characters who weren't just caricatures. Would love to see a real drama though, but that's likely beyond Hollywood for some years ...

Too bad there's no option to leave negative or no stars. This movie is just shallow. The really rich folks in Southeast Asia don't behave like the shallow rich in Hollywood. Get a real Asian to direct an Asian movie with an Asian cast.

I loved it how it doesn't matter where in the world you go or reside people's behavior never changes there will always 😍 be greed, envey strife jealousey there's nothing new under the sun good script great writing thumbs 👆 👆 up I will definitely be watching it again real life scenero thanks 😁
