À propos de ce film

At fortysomething, straight-laced Cal Weaver (Steve Carell) is living the dream-good job, nice house, great kids and marriage to his high school sweetheart. But when Cal learns that his wife, Emily (Julianne Moore), has cheated on him and wants a divorce, his "perfect" life quickly unravels. The hapless Cal is taken on as wingman and protégé to handsome, thirtysomething player Jacob Palmer (Ryan Gosling). In an effort to help Cal get over his wife and start living his life, Jacob opens Cal's eyes to the many options before him: flirty women, manly drinks and a sense of style that can't be found at Supercuts or The Gap. But despite Cal's makeover and his many new conquests, the one thing that can't be made over is his heart, which seems to keep leading him back to where he began.

I wasn't impressed favorably by much of this film. It was mostly depressing to me. It seemed, overall, to exude an air of depression and cynicism, although there was a slightly comic veneer. I also thought that a couple of the roles should have been played by somewhat younger actors, in order to be believed as characters in their 40's. I didn't much care for such glorification of the lounge lizard played by Gosling. There were a few laughs, though, and I give the actors credit for skilled performances.

Surprisingly funny movie with an all-star cast. I'm not a big Steve Carrel fan but his performance in this film was not only humorous but also at times heart-warming. Marisa Tomei and Julianne Moore never disappoint, neither did Kevin Jacob's. Ryan Gossling and Emma Stone have same great chemistry they do in all movies they co-star in. I would recommend this movie to anyone looking for a good date movie or just looking for a good comedy.
