Denzel Washington tekee Oscar-palkinnon arvoisen suorituksen Ethan Hawken vastanäyttelijänä tässä inhorealistisessa draamassa, joka sijoittuu moraalisesti epäselvään peitetehtävässä toimivien poliisien maailmaan. Amerikkalaisissa kaupungeissa käydään joka päivä sotaa huumekauppiaiden ja poliisien välillä. Jokaisessa sodassa syntyy uhreja, eikä kukaan niistä ole suurempi kuin 13 vuotta Los Angelesin huumepoliisissa toiminut huumepoliisi Alonzo Harris (Washington), jonka kyseenalaiset menetelmät hämärtävät rajan laillisuuden ja korruption välillä. Nyt Alonzo saa uuden työparin, naiivin noviisipoliisin Jake Hoytin (Hawke). Jakella on yksi päivä, ja vain yksi ainoa päivä, todistaa lujahermoisuutensa karskin karismaattiselle esimiehelleen. 24 tunnin aikana Jake saa tutustua Alonzon logiikan eettiseen sotkuun, kun molemmat miehet riskeeraavat uransa ja henkensä toteuttaessaan ristiriitaisia oikeudellisia toimia.

Arviot ja arvostelut

Just another movie making all cops look bad like the crew of the vice squad Denzel seems to be in charge of. He did a good job showing the first day of the new guy but once he uses his peer pressure to get his trainee (Ethan Hawke) to smoke crack you could almost count on the ending the way it did. Denzel did not give the quality performance of his previous movies nor did he give it the depth that he has done in the past! Sorry Denzel not your best work.

Denzel is dynamite and Ethan is the fall guy. Tons of action, both actors were superb. Even a little Scott Glenn... You can watch this one over and over again. I had three Monte Carlos, but never as cool as the one in the movie- awesome!

This movie had every angle that you want action pack, suspenseful, plot twist, and of course the bad guy gets it in the end. The only thing I didn't like is out of all the great movies Denzel has played in he never got an Oscar until this movie. All the actors were excellent as well.
