David – Diventare Se Stessi è basato sul libro del giornalista David Lipsky Come diventare se stessi. Il film racconta il tour di cinque giorni che David Foster Wallace fece con il giornalista dei Rolling Stones David Lipsky all'uscita della sua opera culto "Infinite Jest" nel '96. Nel ruolo dello scrittore, morto suicida nel 2008, c'è il comico Jason Segel.

Strong and insightful, it honors the part of the life of a troubled genius. The experience would've been 50% better if the film had been in its original language. It is a pitty that viewers don't get to "feel" and hear the actors' voices and expressions by the offering of the films in the way they were conceived and made. Dubbing makes you lose half of the experience and most technical audio features are lost. I hereby make a pledge to the editors to also offer each film in its original language with Italian subtitles since we are in Italy. The opposite makes you only wish you had resorted to bootlegged material or went to free streaming on internet. I am willing to pay as long as I can buy exactly what I want.

D.F.W. non era forse il massimo della simpatia, ma era uno scrittore eccezionale. Film da vedere.

Bellissimo omaggio a uno scrittore come pochi e persona rimasta di un'umiltà incredibile.
