The original had a much better idea, years after the first encounter with zombies (night of the living dead), a group of people set out to make a life for themselves in a mall that was infested with zombies. I loved the original but the acting and the gore was so low budget, that this one seems to stand out. If George had made Dawn of the Dead with this cast and this budget, it would have blown this one out of the water

This is already a classic that keeps respect to the original while innovating the genre forward for its time. Along with 28 days later, it introduces running zombies and makes them feel threatening. Characters make decisions that make sense knowing they literally wake up to a zombie apocalypse and reveal the human condition that man does not care for each other at all.

This is a reimagining of the George A. Romero cult classic of the same name. Dawn of the Dead is about a group of survivors holding out in a mall during the zombie apocalypse. The film is almost always about the zombies. Either it be about running from zombies, fighting zombies, talking about zombies, etc. Zeds are always at the forefront. The "down with the sickness" montage could have been left out, but this is overall a great zombie action movie.
