About this movie

Academy Award(R) winner Robin Williams (Best Supporting Actor, Good Will Hunting, 1997) delivers one of his most memorable performances in Dead Poets Society. For generations, Welton Academy students have been groomed to live lives of conformity and tradition - until new professor John Keating inspires them to think for themselves, live life to the fullest and "Carpe Diem." This unconventional approach awakens the spirits of the students, but draws the wrath of a disapproving faculty when an unexpected tragedy strikes the school. With unforgettable characters and beautiful cinematography, Dead Poets Society will captivate and inspire you time and time again.

Not only will this movie touch your heart and bring tears, it will inspire you to be a better teacher/person to others and to follow your dreams no matter what the boundaries may be. It is truly poetry on the screen... a great story and a touching social commentary on humanity and life's greatest challenges. If you haven't seen it yet, rent it now. It has taken my love of poetry to an entirely new level!

I was ignorant about the definition of literature, till I saw this film. Literature is the expression of our unfettered selves. The film wonderfully takes home the concept of what is to be learned in a language classroom. True literacy and literary prowess arises when we learn to listen and to speak to ourselves. Expression of the self is creation of poetry. Master performance by The Late Robin Williams. A must watch.
