In a heartbeat, in one terrifying blink of an eye, the unthinkable happens and lives are altered irreparably. Nick Hume is a responsible executive living a contented life with his wife and two teenagers. After stopping for petrol in a dubious neighbourhood one evening, Hume witnesses the brutal murder of his oldest son. The killer Joe Darley, is caught but when Hume learns that a plea bargain will see Darley free after little jail time, he sabotages the trial and goes after him -- his way .To Hume revenge is a dish best served with a double barrelled shotgun. So he arms himself with a fearsome array of weaponry and goes after the killer. On the surface it might look like a generic revenge srory, and that may be the case... But with a fantastic performance from Kevin Bacon - as a happy family man that loses his child to a heartless thug - and great directing by James Wan - who knows how to make your heart stop with his despairful and heart breaking death scenes, and how to make your heart race with his brutal and gritty action scenes (entirely composed of practical effects) - will make this a film well woth watching. Four stars 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

Serviceable revenge thriller. It's a pity it's not the much better "unrated" director's cut.

seen this movie with my partner a bunch of times. never gets old. great movie!!
