A worthwhile rental. The story felt like its been told before with a lot of similarities to other movies involving "creature's from the deep". It was interesting enough to keep the movie flowing along. The special effects were not of blockbuster caliber but were good enough. Overall a good sci-fi movie that's worth the value of the $2.99 rental fee.

Pre-"The Mummy" Stephen Sommers monster romp. Make popcorn and enjoy. Minus one star for major goof toward the end. Wes Studi tries to shoot himself with a Taurus 9mm. It's empty, but the slide should have locked in the open position. Lot's of that in movies. Directors not doing their homework!

I watched it as a kid when it came out. The sea monster scared me then, but now it's more nostalgic. I still love this movie today. It's a simple monster story with a heist, but it doesn't take away from it being a good time. That's what makes it a classic, it's still a good time 24 years later!
