Based on an extraordinary true story, Defiance is an epic tale of family, honour, vengeance and salvation in World War II. The year is 1941 and the Jews of Eastern Europe are being massacred by the thousands. Managing to escape certain death, three brothers take refuge in the dense surrounding woods they have known since childhood. There they begin their desperate battle against the Nazis. The Bielskis were also criminals, deserters of the polish army and therefore traitors of pro soviet inclination. Movie goofs: their bad russian accents (they spoke polish anyway) and shooting at tanks (they never encountered in real life). Another movie where german soldiers are underperforming against a poorly trained and equipped crowd. Far off real life events. Smells like b**** u know xhat i mean.

I expected more from this film. It just didn't keep me very interested. Acting was fine but the film just lacks substance.

This is my favourite film of all time. The acting is brilliant and the story great. Okay it may not be exactly historically accurate, but they DID save a lot of Jewish lives during the Holocaust.
