Based on the acclaimed book Denial: Holocaust History on Trial, DENIAL recounts Deborah E. Lipstadt''s (Academy Award® winner Rachel Weisz) legal battle for historical truth against David Irving (BAFTA nominee Timothy Spall), who accused her of libel when she declared him a Holocaust denier. In the English legal system, in cases of libel, the burden of proof is on the defendant, therefore it was up to Lipstadt and her legal team, led by Richard Rampton (Academy Award® nominee Tom Wilkinson), to prove the essential truth that the Holocaust occurred. DENIAL is directed by Emmy Award® winner Mick Jackson ("Temple Grandin") and adapted for the screen by BAFTA and Academy Award® nominated writer David Hare (THE READER). In my humble opinion , I feel it is totally and completely ignorant to say either way on a war that is 77 years old if there was gas chambers ect. Unless YOU were there and saw it with your own eyes, it is all hear say! I also believe we as humans tend to take any and all information once we have made up our minds on a specific situation, and then look for that information to back up our belief systems. There was a wise man that said "seek and you shall find" this is true. If your looking for the negative you will find and vice versa. BTW this is Denise not Derrick opinion ;) When is Gods name our we going to stop looking at ourselves as different from one another? Start finding things we have in common there are FAR more than we think!

This was very well written, directed, and acted out. Of course I might be a bit biased as I love all the main actors/actresses. I felt the drama of the court. I felt the angst of the survivor and the defendant. We live in uncertain times and have an authoritarian govt. that is headed in the same direction Hitler did and it is plain to see. As the film shows we must stand up to those who try to hide the facts and attempt to suppress a portion of the people who make up our diverse and wonderful melting pot. I was entertained and enjoyed this film and the reminder that it takes a team effort to defeat a tyrant.

I have family members and know a number of elders that were in concentration camps who survived the holocaust. It disturbs me to read ignorant comments from people denying it happened and that survivors should just get over it. It's not that simple although the disrespectful commentators might be. Perhaps a conversation with a holocaust survivor might help but then again, maybe not. Sad.
