About this movie

From Jonás Cuarón and Alfonso Cuarón, the acclaimed filmmakers of Gravity, comes a unique, modern vision of terror. Desierto is a visceral, heart-pounding suspense-thriller packed with tension and suspense from start to finish, starring Gael García Bernal (The Motorcycle Diaries and Y Tu Mamá También) and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Watchmen). What begins as a hopeful journey to seek a better life becomes a harrowing and primal fight for survival when a deranged, rifle-toting vigilante chases a group of unarmed men and women through the treacherous U.S.-Mexican border. In the harsh, unforgiving desert terrain, the odds are stacked firmly against them as they continuously discover there’s nowhere to hide from the unrelenting, merciless killer. Absolutely terrible gun handling skills. That rife is a semi auto, appears to be an SKS 7.62.39. It is not a bolt action rifle as JDM runs it like a bolt action not a semi auto, maybe there a reason for him to do this, malfunction maybe? But it doesn't look like thats a case. We need all illegal aliens out of america however we shouldn't kill them. But movie could have been better.

Decent movie, what threw me off was the fact that the guy kept pulling the bolt back to reload on a Semi automatic rifle. Other than that not too bad. Hollywood has these screw ups quite often, I don't understand why they can't do some research and find out how the weapon actually functions.

Great movie until the ending. JDMs character would not have been crying and begging for his life, that ruined the movie for me, and I love JDM. As the other reviews go, I agree, universal studios went out of their way to paint the "redneck conservative" as a killer and the illegals as heros. Just another propaganda movie for the liberals.
