Orphaned by the death of their father in World War I, three wealthy sisters -- Fiona (Barbara Stanwyck), Evelyn (Geraldine Fitzgerald) and Susanna (Nancy Coleman) -- band together to defend their ownership of the family property. But as their riches dwindle, Susanna marries a real estate developer (George Brent) so that she can qualify for a separate family inheritance. However, she soon learns that her hubby is only after her property, and she eventually squares off against him in court.
