In this riveting adaptation of the stage success by Cyril Gély, the great Volker Schlöndorff (Academy Award winner THE TIN DRUM) has created a psychologically elaborate game of political cat and mouse centered on the impending destruction of Paris at the end of WWII. Starring Niels Arestrup as the German General honor bound to obey all military orders and André Dussollier as the Swedish Consul who tries to persuade the General to spare the beloved 'City of Light.'
